I’m pretty much as happy as Buckwheat and Porky were when they got a dollar. Too bad my car cost a little more than a dollar.
After what seemed like an eternity (and was actually only about a week), I finally bought a car last Saturday! It’s a silver 2002 Nissan Sentra.
In the end, I bought it from a reputable used car dealer instead of off Craigslist. We found out that a lot of somewhat shady dealers post to the “by owner” section of Craigslist, which is really annoying since no one wants to buy from a shady dealer.
If I could give you one piece of advice about buying a used car: don’t buy one when you are in a rush. It’s stressful! Second piece of advice: go with someone who knows something about cars. Luckily, I had an extraordinary car buying assistant in the form of my boyfriend Ben. He knows A LOT about cars. He checked all of the important things while I was in charge of making sure the windows, AC/heat and radio worked.
So now I can do fun things like drive to my internship in Durham (upcoming post: How to Avoid Losing Your Mind While in Traffic on I-40), go to Starbucks to study and drive to a different grocery store besides the crappy Food Lion by my house. Yay!
I still need to name her (I think it’s a her). I will gladly accept suggestions. 🙂
