I couldn’t watch last week’s presidential debate. I don’t have a TV, so I was going to stream it on Youtube, but that night our internet decided to become really, really slow and so I couldn’t catch more than two words every minute or so, so I just gave up. It was okay, though, because I heard all about it the next day.
There are a lot of reasons I”ll never vote for Romney. But in the debate he highlighted one more: cutting funding to PBS. Growing up, we had two or three channels. One of them was PBS. It was the only channel I watched for a good part of my childhood. I grew up with Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, Where in the World is Carmen San Diego, Ghostwriter, Bill Nye the Science Guy and almost every Sunday night we would watch Nature as a family.
Now, one of my favorite shows, Downton Abbey, is shown on PBS. And the documentary Half the Sky recently aired, and you can watch it online until tonight!
Mr. Romney, if you want to cut funding to something, may I suggest the military? Leave Big Bird and Ernie and Bert alone, please.
