I’ve just decided that every Monday I am going to feature music that means something to me.
There is no better place to start than at the beginning. The first album I ever listened to was Graceland by Paul Simon. It’s kind of fitting that it was released the same year I was born. I still remember dancing around my living room so enthusiastically that I would make the record skip. I can’t remember what my favorite song was, because honestly I loved them all. I picked You Can Call Me Al because the music video makes me laugh. Gotta love Chevy Chase.

YES! I love this song so much… and it looks like Chilean cumbia groups learned all of their dance moves from this video (starting about 2:17).
Bahahaha you are so right!
Hi Abby,
I am also a “gringa” living in Chile, in Concepcion actually. I started reading your blog about a month ago, and totally enjoy it! It actually got me started on mine. I am glad you are feeling better and thanks for the great happy son!
Hey!! Thanks for your comment, I’ll be sure to check out your blog. For a second I was like…what about this post makes her think that I have a male child? And why is she thanking me for it? Then I realized: typo! Son=song. Hahahaha. Sometimes I’m a little slooooooow. π
oops! I so meant to write Song…hahahaha opps
What a great idea. π I’m not a huge Paul Simon fan but I do love a bit of the ol’ Chevy Chase!
Yes! “I’m going to Graceland! Graceland! Memphis, Tennessee- I’m going to Graceland!”
–You got me singing the whole album in my head.
LOVE YOU!!!! And I miss dancing to Paul Simon with you =]
I remember we used to dance around like chickens…I don’t remember why. But I remember it was FUN! Haha. Love you too π
