>A New Project

>Now that work has slowed down a lot, I imagine that I won’t return home so exhausted that the only thing I want to do is crawl into bed and sleep. So I’ve come up with a new project.

I realize that I haven’t seen a LOT of movies. I love movies, but whenever I go to rent one I have no idea what I want to watch. So I’ve decided that I’ll watch every Academy Award winner for Best Picture from 1970 to present. Out of the 38 movies, I’ve seen 18 of them, including every one from 1997-present. So I decided to work backwards. I’m going to start with The English Patient (1996) and move backwards watching the following movies:
Schindler’s List (1993)
Unforgiven (1992)
Dances with Wolves (1990)
Driving Miss Daisy (1989)
The Last Emperor (1987)
Platoon (1986)
Out of Africa (1985)
Amadeus (1984)
Terms of Endearment (1983)
Chariots of Fire (1981)
Ordinary People (1980)
Kramer v. Kramer (1979)
The Deer Hunter (1978)
Rocky (1976)
The Godfather Part II (1974)
The Sting (1973)
The Godfather (1972)
The French Connection (1971)
Platoon (1970)

Some of these I might have seen before, like Out of Africa and The Sting, but I don’t remember them at all so I’ll watch them again. Also, I’ve seen parts of Platoon but never the whole thing. I’ll probably watch The Godfathers in order instead of going backwards so I don’t get confused. Ha.

Anyway, I realize that there are other really good (probably better) movies out there but I figured I had to start somewhere. I’ll make sure to include in my blog posts my opinions of the various films, although I’m by no means a film critic so it will likely be very subjective and purely based on my completely biased opinion. 🙂
